Companions are assisting characters that appear in Bookworm Adventures Volume 2. As you progress through Adventure mode, Lex meets various literary figures who join him in his quest. Each companion has different powers that affect Lex's fighting ability, and Lex can bring any one of them at a time with him into battle. They appear behind Lex as well as in the treasure area in the lower left-hand area of the screen.
Book 4 (Fractured Fairytales)[]
- Mother Goose - Creates a healing potion every four turns.
- Cheshire Cat - Purifies Lex and the grid every four turns.
Book 5 (The Monkey King)[]
- Legendary Master - Stuns enemy and powers-up Lex every four turns.
- Monkey King - Alters between several slightly beneficial forms every four turns.
- Cloud Form - Lex has a chance to resist harmful effects.
- Tree Form - Lex is slightly healed each round.
- Fire Form - Enemies take fire damage when they attack.
- Ant Form - Lex's attacks cause slightly more damage.
- Iron Form - Lex takes slightly less damage from attacks.
Book 6 (Astounding Planet)[]
- H. G. Wells - Purifies Lex (not the grid) and raises an invincibility shield every four turns.
- Skeletrox - Upgrades tiles and gems to a higher level every four turns.
